Meeting

Council of Commissioners of the National Institution for Human Rights held its 18th ordinary meeting under the chairpersonship of the Institution’s Chairperson Dr. Abdul Aziz Hassan Abul on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at the National Institution headquarters in Al Seef district. During the meeting the Board of Council was briefed on the important incoming letters and messages from official government agencies which praised the National Institution for achieving the Chaillot Prize for the promotion of human rights in the GCC region for 2014 due to its distinguished role and apparent efforts in the promotion and protection of human rights in Bahrain at the nomination and support from the embassies of the European Union accredited to the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The Council of Commissioners was also briefed on the complaints and requests for assistance received lately and took the appropriate action.

The Council of Commissioners also decided to contact HE the Minister of Interior and request the formation of a joint committee to investigate allegations of violating defendants' rights by the Ministry’s affiliates from the moment of their arrest till the execution of the sentence, as well as ways of dealing with the citizens and residents complaints received or during the monitoring process carried out by the institution and means handling them. Also during the meeting they approved the financial and accounting regulations and the personnel of the Secretariat general regulations.
