The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR)’s Committee on Civil and Political Rights convened its 8th regular meeting at the NIHR’s headquarters in the Seef district under the chairpersonship of Dr. Badr Mohamed Adel. Present were Committee members Mr. Ahmed Mahdi Al-Haddad and Mrs. Widad Radii Al-Mousawi.

During the meeting, the Committee discussed the final draft of the guide for the election of the members of the Council of Representatives and the members of the municipal councils in preparation for its issuance to be a guide for voters and candidates to exercise their political rights in light of the provisions of law regulating such rights. The Committee also considered the development of an assessment form for the monitoring of parliamentary and municipal elections that will be held at the end of this year, expressing its intention to work on it to be released in line with the optimal application of civil and political rights guarantees.
