NIHR’s Committee on Complaints, Monitoring and Follow-up convenes its 20th Regular Meeting

The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR)’s Committee on Complaints, Monitoring and Follow-up convened its 20th regular meeting under headed by Ms. Maria Khoury. Present were Committee members Mr. Khaled Alshaer and Mrs. Rawda Al-Aradi. The Committee reviewed all the complaints received by the NIHR during the past period, noting that the majority of complaints received and assistance provided during 2018 were closed for the demise of the violated right with the cooperation of the concerned parties or were filed for lack of jurisdiction.  The Committee further reviewed legal assistances provided during the said period, amounting to (25) legal assistances, as well as the complaints received via the toll-free hotline, amounting to (92) calls.  It should be noted that the number of calls received via the NIHR's hotline during 2018 exceeded (1250) calls.  In addition, the NIHR received (109) complaints, provided (353) legal assistances and monitored (36) cases via the media and social media during 2018. 

The Committee expressed its desire to extend the bridges of cooperation between the NIHR and a number of bodies relevant to the NIHR's specialty of work, with a view to serve the homeland and the citizens alike.
