NIHR’s Committee on Complaints, Monitoring and Follow-up convenes its 3rd Regular Meeting

The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR)’s Committee on Complaints, Monitoring and Follow-up convened its 3rd regular meeting under the chairpersonship of Ms. Maria Khouri. Present was Committee member Mrs. Rawdha Al-Aradi,

During the meeting, the Committee reviewed all the complaints received by the NIHR during the last period and discussed the NIHR’s preparations to report violations to the ban on work in the afternoon, which is aimed to increase the community culture to support the rights of workers in line with the government’s efforts in this field.  In addition, the Committee commended Bahrain for attaining first ranking in the fight against trafficking in persons.

The Committee also addressed the meeting held with the Minister of Housing aimed at following up the efforts of the Ministry in providing social housing and ensuring citizens' access to their rights.

The Committee discussed the outcomes of the meeting held between NIHR’s delegation and the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education, which aimed to identify the existing systems and approaches in integrating the special education category of students in public schools, and discussed some requests for assistance received by the NIHR.

The Committee examined all its previous resolutions and recommendations and the actions taken thereupon, and concluded its meeting by presenting reports on attending a number of court hearings, in order to ensure fair trial guarantees.
