The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR)’s Committee on Complaints, Monitoring and Follow-up convened its 8^th regular meeting at the NIHR’s headquarters in Seef District headed by Mr. Khaled Alshaer. Present was Committee member

The Committee followed-up on its previous resolutions and recommendations and the actions taken thereupon and has reviewed the action taken with regard to the legal assistance provided with regard to the application for suspension of the implementation of the expulsion resolution against a foreign woman with her Bahraini children.

The Committee also reviewed a detailed list of the received complaints and the provided legal assistance as well as the cases monitored via the media and social media during October and November.

The Committee also reviewed the statement of the received cases as well as those monitored via the media and social media on the enforcement of the provisions of the Law No. (18) of 2017 on alternative sanctions and measures, where the NIHR has contacted the competent authorities on the cases that fulfill the requirements for the application of the said law and has notified applicants that had not fulfilled the requirements of the aforesaid law with the actions to be taken.

The Committee discussed what had been monitored during the trial hearings attended by the NIHR's delegates in order to ensure the accessibility of fair trial guarantees and the respect for the rights of all defendants and detainees guaranteed by the Constitution, the national legislation and the relevant international and regional agreements, and stressed the need to intensify its efforts to attend trial hearings in order to ensure fair trial guarantees.
