NIHR Inaugurates the “Youth Leaders for Peace and Human Rights” Program

The training program on “Youth Leaders for Peace and Human Rights” launched by the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) saw its first event in line with the NIHR’s role in dissemination and enhancement of the human rights culture among various society groups, in cooperation with Embassy of Netherlands in Bahrain and the Kuwait Society for Human Rights, under the title of “Human Rights and Good Governance”, presented by Advisor of the Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments in Bahrain and expert in the human rights area Dr. Hosni Darweesh.

The Program aims at providing youth with a strong foundation of human rights knowledge and defense skills, in accordance with national and international mechanisms away from extremism and fanaticism, implanting peace and human rights values and principles in their minds in order to enhance and develop the culture of peace and human rights in the youth behavior, briefing them with their rights and duties as per national and international legislations, activating their role in leading community and human rights participations for peace and indicating the NIHR’s role in the area of enhancement and protection.

On this occasion, the NIHR Chairperson Dr. Abdul-Aziz Hassan Abul asserted that the youth are the source of development in various areas through which the Kingdom of Bahrain aims at achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and that the implementation of such Program will have many positive effects on the youth group through increasing their awareness of building the culture of peace and human rights in addition to enhancing the building of their capabilities and leadership skills in peace management and making towards human rights.
