NIHR organizes “My Rights” Program for Public Sector Employees

The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), in partnership with Judicial and Legal Studies Institute and Bahrain Institute for Political Development, organized a training course on “Methodology of Writing Human Rights Reports”, within the framework of “My Rights” program for the public sector employees, presented by Mr. Saddam Abu Azzam, the regional expert on parliamentary affairs and human rights, for two consecutive days at the NIHR’s headquarters.

The training course aims to create national cadres to evaluate the national visions on the human rights concept through performance assessment in comparison with the international standards and obligations of the Kingdom of Bahrain, in order to develop and support human rights protection mechanisms within the framework of implementing sustainable development goals of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The training course dealt with a number of themes, most notably the real understanding of the human rights reports, the general components of reports, types of reports submitted to the committees, the preparation of a report in accordance with articles of the Convention, preparation of writing a report and style and indicators of writing a report.

The Program lasts from February to December 2017.  It is a comprehensive program for employees in official and governmental institutions at various levels.  It includes a set of workshops, training courses and awareness lectures on topics relevant to constitutional, legal and human rights areas, which are conducted by a group of national experts specialized in such areas.  The Program further aims to develop capacities and skills of researchers in the public position in the legal and human rights area and to provide training on positive handling of the rights and duties of a public sector employee.
