The NIHR convened an introductory session focusing on the duties and skills required for the Commissioner for Children's Rights within the Institution, drawing the participation of representatives from civil society groups and individuals invested in children's rights. This initiative is part of a series of events aimed at raising awareness about children's rights and bolstering the engagement of civil society organizations in this field.


Dr. Fouzia Saeed Al-Saleh, a member of the Council of Commissioners, inaugurated the session with remarks underscoring the institution's deep commitment to matters concerning children's and family rights, emphasizing the significance of collaborating with civil society bodies, which play a crucial role in advocating for children's rights and human rights at large.

Dr. Hooriya Hassan, the Commissioner for Children's Rights within the institution, addressed various topics, elucidating the primary duties of the Commissioner and their role in advancing and safeguarding children's rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain. She also highlighted key principles related to human rights and children's rights as outlined in international and national conventions and treaties, with the aim of making further strides in addressing issues concerning children and adolescents.

The organization of this session underscores the institution's belief in the value of exchanging ideas and viewpoints, as well as in fortifying connections and formalizing partnerships between the institution and civil society organizations, in line with the conclusions reached during recent consultative sessions with these stakeholders.
