National Institution participates in the International Conference on " security challenges and human rights in the Arab region. "

Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights HE Dr. Abdul Aziz Hassan Abul and Vice Chairperson, Head of the complaints, monitoring and follow-up committee HE Mr. Abdullah Ahmad Alderazi  participated in the International Conference on "Security and human rights challenges in the Arab region," which was held in Doha during the period from November 5-6, 2014 under the patronage of the Prime Ministers and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, and organized by the National Human Rights Committee in Qatar in cooperation with the General Secretariat of the Council of Arab Ministers of Interior, the Arab League, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and the Arab Network for national human rights institutions.

The conference was inaugurated by the Chairperson of the National Human Rights Committee HE Dr. Ali bin Smaikh Marri, , and was attended by HE Dr. Mohammed bin Ali Kuman, Secretary General of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers, HE Zeid Ra'ad, the High Commissioner for Human Rights of the United Nations (speech recorded), and HE Ambassador Wajeeh Hanafi, Assistant Secretary-General for Legal Affairs, League of Arab States, HE Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Al Jarwan, president of the Arab parliament, and HE Dr. Mohammed Faiq , the head of the Arab Network of National human Rights Institutions.

Conference topics focused on international and regional experiences about the relationship between the work of the security institutions and human rights, and presentation of the experiences of some international organizations in partnership with the security services. There has also been a participatory dialogue with a number of representatives of the special procedures of the Human Rights in the United Nations, in addition to four workshops, the first was about the security challenges and human rights issue, the second was about the partnership between security institutions and national human rights institutions and civil society organizations in the promotion and respect of human rights, the third was about the codes of conduct of  security institutions in the field of human rights and the issue of increasing capacity at the international, regional and local levels, while the fourth was about the reform of the security institutions and the penal and correctional institutions in accordance with internationa
l human rights standards.
