NIHR Chairperson Receives the Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of Canada in the Kingdom of Bahrain

Eng. Ali Ahmed Al-Derazi, Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), has received at the NIHR headquarters in Seef district Mr. Perry Calderwood, Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of Canada to the Kingdom of Bahrain, residing in Riyadh, in the presence of Dr. Malallah Al-Hammadi and Mr. Daniel Cohen, members of the NIHR Council of Commissioners.

Al-Derazi welcomed Mr. Calderwood, expressing his pride in the close friendly relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and Canada, emphasizing the importance of developing and advancing these relations to broader horizons for the benefit of the two friendly countries and peoples.

During the meeting, Al-Derazi reviewed the NIHR’s efforts in following up on the human rights situation, and its role in spreading, promoting and protecting human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain, in accordance with the terms of reference entrusted to it in its Establishment Law, as well as the continuous interest that the NIHR attaches to strengthening communication with everyone at the regional and international levels.

For his part, Mr. Calderwood expressed his appreciation for the NIHR’s humanitarian efforts in protecting and promoting human rights, while praising the existing friendly relations between his country and the Kingdom of Bahrain.
