NIHR Receives the French Ambassador

The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) Chairperson Dr. Abdul-Aziz Hassan Abul received at the NIHR’s headquarters the Ambassador of the Republic of France to Bahrain Mr. Bernard Régnauld in the presence of Mr. Abdullah Al Derazi, NIHR's Vice Chairperson, Head of NIHR Committee on Complaints, Monitoring and Follow-up Ms. Maria Khouri and NIHR’s Acting Secretary -General Mr. Yasser Shaheen.

At the beginning of the meeting, the NIHR Chairperson welcomed the French Ambassador and praised the close and distinguished relationships between the two countries, which are enhanced by mutual cooperation in various areas, mentioning the most important human rights achievements witnessed by the Kingdom of Bahrain during 2015 and 2016, which have been indicated in the NIHR’s 4th annual report.

He further expressed NIHR’s desire to bring into action the cooperation between both sides, especially in the area of exchange of expertise, training and holding workshops on human rights enhancement and protection.  He added that the NIHR currently focuses on building capabilities in the human rights field in order to increase the human rights awareness level in Bahrain.

On his side, the French Ambassador expressed his contentment with the welcoming and hospitality he received, emphasizing the willingness of his country to enhance the existing cooperation between the two countries in the human rights areas, and showed his willingness to provide every support that serves all interests and aspirations for the sake of the NIHR to achieve its targets and terms of reference.
