NIHR Celebrates Kingdom of Bahrain’s election to the Chairperson of the Arab Human Rights Committee (the Charter Committee)

HE Dr. Abdul-Aziz Hassan Abul, Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), expressed his honor and bride in Kingdom of Bahrain’s election as chairperson of the Arab Human Rights Committee (the Charter Committee), during Committee’s 46th meeting held at the headquarters of the League of Arab States’ General Secretariat in Cairo.

This was during Mr. Abul’s meeting with HE Chancellor Mohamed Jomaa Fazee, on the occasion of his election as Head of the Arab Human Rights Committee (the Charter Committee), in the presence of NIHR Vice chairperson Mr. Abdullah Al-Derazi, member of NIHR’s council of Commissioners Ms. Maria Khouri, NIHR’s Acting Secretary General Chancellor Yasser Shahin and NIHR IT and Telecommunication Director Mr. Fahad Al-Mualla, at NIHR’s headquarters that day.

HE Chairperson of the NIHR considered that the winning of Bahrain’s candidate of the chairpersonship of the Arab Human Rights Committee (the Charter Committee) is deemed as a winning for all Bahrainis and a pride for the country, as it reflects the genuine will and earnest desire of His Majesty King of Bahrain, may God protect him, to manage the human rights portfolio, through the adoption of transparency, professionalism and credibility as fundamental pillars to the human rights work, which led the Kingdom to assume many of the human rights seats by its candidates’ winning in various regional and international elections.

During his meeting with Chancellor Mohamed Jomaa Fazee, NIHR’s Chairperson asserted that such winning communicates a clear message on Bahrain’s ability and efficiency to add an advantage and benefit through its experience in the human rights area, indicating that such success is considered a new furtherance to Bahrain’s honorable human rights record and a positive indicator of its advanced reputation among nations that respect and protect human rights.

It is worth mentioning that Chancellor Mohamed Jomaa Fazee, candidate of the Kingdom of Bahrain, has a wide range of practical experience in Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Constitutional Court and Ministry of Human Rights Affairs, where he practiced many diplomatic and legal works and participated in many forums, meeting and conferences, which enabled him to acquire a lot of experiences.  His election is deemed as an inauguration of a new stage in the Arab Human Rights Committee’s working and proceeding with its terms of reference in terms of the development of the Arab human rights system mechanisms along with the thoughtful and earnest steps of the Arab League towards the establishment of the Arab Human Rights Court.
