NIHR Chairman Meets the Permanent Observer of the Permanent Mission of the GCC States to the United Nations Office and Other International Organisations in Geneva

Eng. Ali Ahmed Al-Derazi, Chairman of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), has met with Ambassador Adel Isa Al-Mehri, Permanent Observer of the Permanent Mission of the GCC States to the United Nations Office and Other International Organisations in Geneva, on the side-lines of the visit of NIHR delegation to attend the session of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed mechanisms and methods of activating joint cooperation between the NIHR and the Human Rights Office of the Secretariat-General of the GCC States, through participation in the programmes and events held by the two parties, in addition to proposing mechanisms for capacity building and activating technical cooperation in areas of human rights protection and promotion by supporting the work of Gulf national institutions and raising capacity of their staff.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Abdullah Al-Ajami, Director of the Human Rights Office of the Secretariat-General of the GCC States, Mr. Suhaim Al-Shaalan, Director of the International Organisations Department of the Permanent Mission of the GCC States in Geneva, Mrs. Rawdha Al-Aradi, Head of the NIHR Committee on Complaints, Monitoring and Follow-up, and Chancellor Yasser Ghanim Shaheen, NIHR Secretary-General.
