Alderazi: “Alternative sanctions and open prisons reflect Bahrain’s Continuous efforts towards safeguarding human rights”

Eng. Ali Ahmed Alderazi, Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), stated that starting the implementation of the 2nd phase of Alternative Sanctions Law (Open Prisons Programme) is an important step to integrate the beneficiary convicts into society, enable them to correct their path and reintegrate them into society and among their family members.

Alderazi said: “the implementation of the 2nd phase of the Alternative Sanctions Law reflects Bahrain’s success in implementing and achieving the desired goals, which include rehabilitating the convicts and ensuring that they do not return to crime while integrating properly into society”.

The Chairperson of the NIHR appreciated the efforts of the Ministry of Interior led by His Excellency Lieutenant General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, and its effective role towards further development of the alternative sanctions and open prisons programme, as well as the training and rehabilitation plans and programmes it includes, which contribute to the reintegration of the beneficiary convicts into society so that they become active persons in it on the one hand, and in a way that reflects the continuous efforts of the Kingdom of Bahrain towards safeguarding human rights on the other hand.
