NIHR receives a delegation from the Bahrain Association of Recruitment Agencies

Within the framework of the cooperation of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) with the civil society organizations, HE Mr. Saeed bin Mohammed Al-Faihani, Chairperson of the NIHR, received a delegation from the Bahrain Association of Recruitment Agencies headed by Mr. Aqeel Al-Mahari.  The Chairperson of the NIHR welcomed the delegation and reviewed the nature of the work and functions of the NIHR and its role in the promotion and protection of the human rights of migrant and domestic workers as well.

His Excellency stressed the importance of partnership with the civil society organizations in order to implement the widest human rights guarantees in the Kingdom of Bahrain.  He pointed out that the more these efforts are combined with the relevant parties, the more the objective to promote and protect the rights of citizens and residents alike is achieved in reality, under the comprehensive reform project of His Majesty the King, may God protect him.

For his part, the Head of the Bahrain Association of Recruitment Agencies commended the prominent role of the NIHR in the promotion and protection of human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain, stressing the importance of strengthening cooperation between the two sides and the continuation of meetings that are important in supporting efforts to achieve common goals, which supports the work of the human rights system in Bahrain and serves the aspirations for the protection of the rights of domestic workers and their employers at the same time.  It was agreed at the end of the meeting that the NIHR’s Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights would hold a meeting with the Association to hear its concerns and try to give assistance within the human rights framework if possible.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Abdullah Al-Derazi, NIHR’s Vice chairperson, Ms. Maria Khouri, head of NIHR’s Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and Mrs. Shaikha Al-Aliwi, Legal Researcher at the NIHR’s Secretariat-General.
