NIHR and NCHR Sign Memorandum of Understanding

Eng. Ali Ahmed AL-Derazi, Chairman of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), and Dr. Moshira Khattab, Head of the National Council for Human Rights (NCHR) in Egypt, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the NIHR and the NCHR for the purpose of deepening cooperation in the field of human rights promotion, within the competencies determined by the national legislation of each party, in addition to exchanging information and technical cooperation between the two sides.

On this occasion, Al-Derazi stated that signing this MoU will enable the two parties to work within their competencies, according to a joint mechanism to contribute to the protection and promotion of a culture of human rights in both brotherly countries, by organizing scientific and practical conferences, seminars and training courses at the local, regional and international levels, noting that the NIHR is looking forward to developing this cooperation, exchanging expertise in the field of human rights and benefiting from them to enhance its achievements and steps in this field.

For her part, Dr. Khattab explained that signing an MoU with the NIHR in the Kingdom of Bahrain contributes to strengthening the frameworks of cooperation between the two sides in the human rights and legal field, especially with regard to the exchange of expertise and successful experiences, and the training of national cadres in the fields of work of national human rights institutions.

The MoU aims at consolidating the bonds of coordination and joint cooperation with regard to the consolidation of human rights principles, and work to strengthen, encourage, disseminate and develop them.  The MoU also stipulates for the exchange of visits, legal and human rights advice, publications, literature and specialized studies, arranging and organizing human rights workshops and holding joint events and conferences, especially with regard to human rights.
