Statement by NIHR’s Acting Secretary General on the Occasion of the Adoption by the UN of the Experiment of the Kingdom of Bahrain in Reforming the Labor Market

Dr. Khalifa bin Ali Al-Fadel, Secretary-General of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), stated that the adoption by the UN of the experiment of the Kingdom of Bahrain in reforming the labor market through the flexible work permit project as one of the best international practices is a positive step to consolidate the reform project of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of Bahrain, which shall significantly contribute to the positive changes of the sustainable development process in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Dr. Al-Fadel congratulated HE Mr. Osama bin Abdullah Al-Abssi, CEO of the Labor Market Regulatory Authority, on such great achievement due to the hard work, praising the remarkable role adopted by the Authority in developing strategies and plans to improve the Bahraini labor market by setting up mechanisms to achieve the objectives of creating greater stability in the work environment.

Dr. Al-Fadel also stresses that the NIHR works side by side with the Labor Market Regulatory Authority as one of the main partners in the development, promotion and protection of the human rights of Bahrain’s citizens and residents.
