The NIHR’s Delegation Meets with the Middle East Director at Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights

The NIHR’s Vice chairperson Mr. Abdullah Al-Derazi, and Member of the Council of Commissioners and Member of the Complaints, Monitoring and Follow-up Committee Dr. Hameed Hussein met on the sidelines of the NIHR’s participation in the 33rd Session of the Human Rights Council in the United Nations Palace in Geneva with the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Department Director Mr. Mohamed Nesour and the MENA Human Rights Officer Mr. Mohamed Hagig, who is responsible for the Kingdom of Bahrain, 

During the meeting, the NIHR’s Vice chairperson asserted that this meeting comes within the context of cooperation and communication with the international authorities, especially the UN and its agencies concerned with human rights, especially the High Commissioner for Human Rights, in order to enhance and protect human rights, indicating that the NIHR always looks forward to develop this cooperation, exchange experiences and exploit these experiences in enhancing its achievements and steps in this field.

The NIHR’s Vice chairperson further reviewed information on the NIHR’s work and objectives for the next stage, in order to maintain and enhance human rights, noting that the human rights process in the Kingdom of Bahrain goes hand in hand with the reform process and development programs led by His Majesty the King, may God protect him, in order to achieve further development and prosperity for the service of the homeland and the citizen.

On his part, Dr. Hameed Hussein reviewed the positive progress in Bahrain’s human rights dossier as well as the NIHR’s persistent efforts towards the enhancement and protection of human rights, adding that the combination of local efforts will reinforce facing all challenges surrounding the human rights work, and emphasizing that the Kingdom is proceeding on the preservation and protection of human rights.
