NIHR participates in APF Meeting

The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) participated in the 24th meeting of Asia and Pacific Forum (APF) of the national human rights institutions held in Seoul, South Korea, and attended by 25 national human rights institutions that belong to the APF.  The NIHR was represented by Mr. Husain Abdulla Al Doseri, Assistant Researcher at the NIHR’s Department of Legal Affairs and Training.

The 2-day meeting, chaired by Prof. Rosalind Croucher, Chairperson of the Australian Commission on Human Rights, reviewed the most important ways of cooperation between the APF institutions members, the international community and UN agencies and mechanisms, discussed the APF annual and financial report and negotiated with various regional and international civil society organizations.

On the third day, the APF organized a conference on Combating Discrimination and Hatred, with the participation of institutions members of the APF and representatives of embassies accredited to South Korea, as well as representatives of international organizations and civil society organizations, where the role of national human rights institutions and civil society organizations in terms of combating hatred speech and all forms of discrimination was raised and discussed.

The NIHR of the Kingdom of Bahrain is a member to the APF, which is one of the four regional groups of the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI) on the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights.
