NIHR's Chairperson receives a delegation from British Foreign and Commonwealth Office

Dr. Abdulaziz Hassan Abul, Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights, received at the NIHR's headquarters in the Seef district a delegation from the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office, headed by Mr. Neil Bush, Head of Arabian Peninsula Department at the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO).

At the beginning of the meeting, His Excellency, the NIHR's Chairperson welcomed the delegation and reviewed the role assumed by the NIHR in disseminating the culture of human rights, and promoting and protecting human rights, as well as the tasks carried out by Institution in the form of follow-up of human rights related complaints by citizens and residents.

Mr. Neil Bush, Head of Arabian Peninsula Department at Foreign and Commonwealth Office, commended the role played by the National Institution in the field of promoting and protecting human rights, so as to enhance awareness of the culture of human rights. He also stressed the importance of deepening relations of cooperation between the NIHR and Department at Foreign and Commonwealth Office in the promotion and protection of human rights. It was also an opportunity for both sides to exchange views on how to strengthen cooperation between them to support efforts to achieve the common goals.

The meeting was attended by His Excellency Mr. Abdullah Al Derazi, Deputy Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights, Her Excellency Ms. Maria Khoury, Complaints, Monitoring and Follow-up Committee Chairperson, His Excellency Acting Secretary General Counselor-Law Mr. Yasser Shahin, and Mr. Fahad Abdullah Al-Mualla, director of Information and Communication Technology at the NIHR's Secretariat-General.
