NIHR receives Human Rights Observatory Society
Ms. Maria Khouri, Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), received Mr. Mohsen Al-Ghorairi, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Human Rights Observatory Society (Al-Marsa’d), at the NIHR’s headquarters in the Seef District. The meeting was attended by a number of members of the Council of Commissioners, NIHR’s Secretary-General and Society’s members of the Board of Directors.
During the meeting, Ms. Khouri welcomed the members of the Board of Directors of the Society wishing them all success. She stressed the NIHR’s desire and keenness to cooperate with civil society organizations to follow-up the development and promotion of human rights culture. For his part, the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Society gave a brief on the Society’s emergence and its future plans. He also presented a set of projects that will be launched by the Society in the near future and expressed his desire for the NIHR to implement a number of them.
For her part, the Chairperson of the NIHR appreciated this initiative, which comes in line with the NIHR’s strategy and action plan for the years 2019 – 2021, especially with regard to the Strategic Goal on Spreading Awareness of the Principles of Human Rights in Civil Society Institutions and Activating Community Partnership Programs, stressing that the NIHR will spare no effort to provide support to civil society institutions for the protection and promotion of human rights.
