NIHR reviews its achievements with the Staff of the US House of Representatives and Senates

Counsellor-at-Law Yasser Ghanim Shaheen, Secretary General of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), has reviewed the most prominent achievements of the NIHR in the last ten years and its essential role in dealing with issues related to human rights in accordance with its Incorporation Law at the local and international levels, stating that all these achievements and successes would not have been achieved without the unlimited support of the rational leadership for the human rights institutions in the Bahrain, including the NIHR.

This was during a meeting with a delegation of the US House of Representatives and Senates that is currently visiting Bahrain. The meeting was attended by in the presence of
Mr. Fahad Al Mualla, NIHR Resources and Services Director, and Mrs. Latifa Al Jalahma, NIHR Legal Affairs and Training Director.

During the meeting, the delegation raised a number of questions and inquiries about various topics related to human rights, where the NIHR’s mechanism of action within its terms of reference and objectives was explained, in addition to the importance of adhering to national legislations and relevant international instruments and standards on human rights.  Then, the delegation was briefed the NIHR’s training center and library, as well as the NIHR’s Complaints and Call Center and its role in dealing with complaints received and legal assistance provided.
