01 May 2022

On the occasion of International Workers’ Day, Eng. Ali Ahmed Al-Derazi, Chairman of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), congratulated all workers in the Kingdom of Bahrain in all their positions, for their sincere efforts in serving the country, and for their continuous work in the Kingdom’s renaissance and support for the comprehensive development process led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of the State, and the vigorous follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

On this occasion, Al-Derazi stated the right of workers to a safe and sound environment in which all workers’ rights confirmed by national legislation and international labour standards are considered, in order to achieve Sustainable Development Goals for the three production parties (government, employees and employers).

Al-Derazi pointed out to the internationally advanced positions that the Kingdom of Bahrain obtained as per the reports on human development and women’s participation issued by the World Bank, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the International Labour Organization (ILO), in honour of Bahrain’s achievements in the field of workers’ rights in general, and the measures it took to safeguard workers’ rights during Covid-19 pandemic, stating the general right to work for all.

Al-Derazi stated that the NIHR is working hard to follow-up on and monitor the extent of compliance with the international conventions and treaties ratified by the Kingdom of Bahrain on the protection of workers’ rights, calling for commitment in order to promote and preserve those rights, as well as cooperation between the three production parties (government, employees and employers), and devoting community partnership to preserve the rights of both national and expatriate workers.
