NIHR's Chairman Meets Board of Directors of Bahrain Women Union

Eng. Ali Ahmed Al-Derazi, Chairperson of the National institution for Human Rights (NIHR), has met with Mrs. Ahlam Ragab, Chairman of the Bahrain Women Union, in the presence of Dr. Fawzeya Al-Saleh, Head of the NIHR Committee on Public Rights and Freedom, and a number of members of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Women Union (BWU), at the NIHR headquarters in Seef district.

At the beginning of the meeting, Al-Derazi welcomed BWU’s Chairperson and members, commending the prominent role played by Bahraini women in various fields, especially their effective contribution in the context of the efforts of the Kingdom of Bahrain in confronting Covid-19, praising BWU’s efforts to support and uphold women on a permanent basis, and stated the NIHR’s support for the efforts made by the BWU to achieve common goals.

They also discussed ways to enhance cooperation and joint coordination between the NIHR and the BWU to raise awareness of the importance of empowering women to effectively participate at the political, economic and cultural levels, as they are an active and key partner in the sustainable development process of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

For her part, the Chairman of the Bahraini Women Union (BWU) expressed her sincere appreciation for the NIHR’s efforts to support women, and for its permanent and constructive cooperation with the BWU to enable it to play the role entrusted to it.
