NIHR Committee on Visiting Detention Places and Facilities Conducts a Field Visit to NBB Rehabilitation Home for Disabled Children

The National institution for Human Rights (NIHR) Committee on Visiting Detention Places and Facilities conducted a field visit to the National Bank of Bahrain (NBB) Rehabilitation Home for Disabled Children in order to monitor the standard of services provided to them being one of the most eligible care receiving groups in society.



During the visit, the Committee met with a number of the Home officials, and conducted interviews with the working staff and residents, in order to ensure the extent of the Home’s commitment to all precautionary and preventive measures to combat Covid-19 and the extent to which human rights standards stipulated in international laws and legislations are respected therein.  The Committee also reviewed the actions taken to ensure that all residents and employees of the Home receive anti-Covid-19 vaccine on a sustainable basis, and closely monitored all measures aimed at preserving the right to health in general and other rights of children with disabilities in particular.  Then, the Committee toured the facilities of the Home, which included classrooms, guest rooms, kitchen, toilets and health isolation room.



This visit falls within the framework of the NIHR supervisory role, and in complementation of its plan to follow-up on the application of standards related to the protection and promotion of human rights in general and the rights of the most eligible care receiving group in particular under the circumstances of Covid-19, and to prepare reports and recommendations related to the human rights situation and submit them to the concerned authorities.
