Members to NIHR Council of Commissioners take the Initiative to take (Covid-19) Vaccination
The Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) and a number of members of the NIHR Council of Commissioners have taken the initiative to take the vaccination for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) approved by the Kingdom of Bahrain as part of the national vaccination campaign aimed at providing protection against any dangers that might result from the nature of their work during the field visits they conduct on a periodic basis.
On this occasion, Ms. Maria Khoury, Chairperson of the NIHR, expressed her appreciation for the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of Bahrain, to provide safe vaccinations to all citizens and residents on a free of charge basis, praising at the same time the proactive steps and precautionary measures taken by the Kingdom among the national efforts of the Bahrain team, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to maintain the health and safety of society.
Ms. Khoury said, “The wide range of decisions and well-planned precautionary and preventive measures launched since the emergence of the virus, which took into account all aspects of human rights, have significantly contributed to limiting and reducing the harms resulting from the virus, the matter which reveals the leadership’s deep belief in human dignity, respect for human rights and commitment to protecting them”, stating that the right to health is not limited to the provision of traditional healthcare only but extends to the provision of good quality goods and services that are scientifically and medically appropriate, and that the work to provide a safe and effective vaccine, after it has exhausted all stages of clinical trials, and to make it available to all on a free of charge basis, is deemed as part of the determined efforts to confront the Coronavirus (Covid-19).
She added, “Vaccination is a method that aims to prevent diseases, works to combat their causes through a scientific methodology and contributes to the development of the body's immunity by preventing infection, and in my personal opinion, taking vaccination at this stage of dealing with the virus is necessary to support national efforts to deal with Coronavirus (Covid-19)”, calling on all citizens and residents above the age of 18 to register to receive the vaccination.
At the end of her statement, Ms. Khoury affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain is dealing wisely and is decisively and unlimitedly committed to protecting, preserving and promoting all aspects of human rights, for both citizens and residents alike, pointing out that Bahrain’s observance for human rights in all precautionary and remedial measures will be the focus of attention and appreciation of regional and international bodies concerned with human rights, expressing her thanks and appreciation, on her behalf and on behalf of members to the Council of Commissioners, to all national cadres and volunteers for their commitment to safety standards and the application of all precautionary measures to combat the virus to preserve the health and safety of everyone.
