NIHR receives the Australian Deputy Consul accredited to the Kingdom of Bahrain

Mr. Khalid Abdul-Aziz Al-Shaer, Vice Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), received Mr. Nicholas Bay, Deputy Consul at the Australian Embassy accredited to the Kingdom of Bahrain residing in Riyadh, in the presence of Mr. Fahad Abdullah Al-Mualla, NIHR Resources and Services Director.

During the meeting, Al-Shaer welcomed Mr. Bay and briefed him on the NIHR’s work and role entrusted to it in the dissemination, promotion and protection of human rights, emphasizing at the same time the advanced status achieved by the Kingdom of Bahrain in the area of human rights, which could not have been achieved without the attention of the political leadership, which supports everything that promotes and protect human rights in the Kingdom, based on its deep belief in human dignity, respect for human rights and commitment to protect them.

The meeting also touched on the importance of enhancing cooperation between the two sides to build capacity through the provision of training programs and means of support in all areas that support the NIHR’s work in the human rights area.

For his part, the Australian Consul expressed his thanks to the NIHR’s Vice Chairperson for the good reception, stressing the importance of closer cooperation in the area of human rights promotion, protection and development in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The meeting included a tour of the NIHR building, including the training center, the NIHR library, the call center and the complaints receiving mechanisms.
