NIHR organizes a Training Course in Cooperation with Asia and Pacific Forum

The Secretary General of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) organized a capacity-building training course on human rights monitoring and documentation, presented by the Regional Expert on Parliamentary Affairs and Human Rights Mr. Saddam Abu Azzam, at the NIHR headquarters, in which he discussed a number of important themes on human rights monitoring and documentation mechanism, presented the experiences of the participating institutions in the program on monitoring and documentation in the area of human rights and explained the general concepts of monitoring economic and social rights, correction institutions, detention centers, child’s rights and the election process.

The 2-day training course was attended by a number of the staff members of the Ombudsmen, Prisoners and Detainees Rights Committee (PDRC) and the NIHR’s Secretary General, where practical applications were carried out on the preparation of monitoring reports for monitoring and documentation processes in the area of human rights, with a view to reach the best methods of monitoring and documentation.

Dr. Khalifa bin Ali Al-Fadhel, Secretary-General of the NIHR, praised the constructive cooperation with the Asia-Pacific Forum (APF) in the area of capacity-building and technical support, which would promote and protect human rights, looking forward to further cooperation in the areas of training and exchange of experiences.

This training course is in line with the memorandum of understanding between the NIHR and the APF, which aims to implement capacity-building programs and prepare human rights facilitators.
