NIHR Receives Chargé d'affaires of the Canadian Embassy to the Kingdom of Bahrain

Eng. Ali Ahmed Alderazi, Chairman of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), has received Mrs. Natalie Breton, Chargé d'Affairs of the Canadian Embassy accredited to the Kingdom of Bahrain, residing in Riyadh, at the NIHR’s headquarters in Seef District.

During the meeting, Alderazi presented an overview of the NIHR, its strategy and action plan and its achievements during its human rights journey, as well as highlights of the 9th annual report of the NIHR.  Al-Darazi also referred to the Alternative Sanctions Law, and the areas to be developed.

The two sides also discussed the progress made in the human rights issue in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and how to strengthen the human rights system in line with international standards in this field.  They also discussed effective communication with the United Nations and its specialized agencies and other international organizations, with the aim of studying and analyzing the decisions issued by those bodies or recommendations, and prepare the necessary reports and recommendations in this regard in cooperation with the competent authorities in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

For her part, Mrs. Breton expressed her thanks for the warm reception, praising the importance of the NIHR’s role in protecting and promoting human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain, wishing the Kingdom of Bahrain and its people continued progress and prosperity.
