Khoury: “National Plan to Promote the Spirit of National Belonging the Consolidation of Patriotism Values is a Step in Instilling the Concepts of Citizenship”

The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) commends Bahrain’s inauguration of the National Plan for the Promotion of National Belonging and Consolidation of Citizenship Values (Our Bahrain). The plan is the embodiment of the royal vision of His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa, which aims to preserve national values, consolidate citizenship values and adhere to national identity with all its values, customs, traditions and heritage, as His Majesty stressed in several occasions that the Kingdom of Bahrain will remain a homeland where the culture of love, brotherhood, coexistence among various races, sects and religions and a haven for human rights flourishes.

On this occasion, Ms. Maria Khoury, Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), stressed that the National Plan for the Promotion of National Belongingness and Consolidation of Citizenship Values came in line with the Reform Project of His Majesty the King, within the framework of building a modern State based on the principles of justice, equality and safeguarding of public rights and freedoms, adding that it embodies a vision towards building the present and the future, fulfills the aspirations to a dignified and secure life and protects and promotes human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Ms. Khoury explained that the five basic tracks, namely the belongingness programs, public relations campaigns, media initiatives, curricula and course initiatives and legislative and regulatory initiatives will reflect in a set of initiatives, each achieves specific objectives, which gives them inclusion and integration.  She added that the Plan will work towards the development of all efforts to preserve the security and stability of the homeland by enhancing the citizen's sense of belongingness, which will contribute to the further promotion and protection of human rights in various public fields, in line the with national legislation and the Kingdom's obligations arising from international and regional instruments on human rights, as well as the UN Sustainable Development Objectives 2030.
