NIHR Receives UN Special Representative on Sexual Violence in Conflict

Eng. Ali Ahmed Al-Derazi, Chairman of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), has received Ms. Pramila Patten as the UN Special Representative on Sexual Violence in Conflict, in the presence of Counsellor-at-Law Yasser Ghanim Shaheen, NIHR Secretary-General, at the NIHR headquarters in Seef district.

During the meeting, Al-Derazi reviewed the NIHR’s role in dealing with issues related to human rights, pointing out the NIHR’s full support for everything that would enhance women’s enjoyment of their rights, at various political, economic, social, and cultural levels, as a basic partner in Bahraini society along with men, to achieve the principle of equality and non-discrimination.

For her part, Ms. Patten appreciated the NIHR’s effective role in protecting human rights, and its endeavours to promote a human rights culture in the Kingdom of Bahrain in general and to promote women’s rights and empowerment, wishing the Kingdom and its people continued progress.
