Migrant Workers Protection Society (MWPS) is briefed on practical mechanisms adopted in the branch of the NIHR dedicated to migrant workers, domestic workers and their Families

A delegation from the Migrant Workers Protection Society (MWPS) was briefed on the practical mechanisms adopted in the branch of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) that provides legal assistance to migrant workers, domestic workers and their families, located in “the Shelter Center and Service Station for expatriate workers” in Sihla. Ms. Maria Khouri, Chairperson of the NIHR, in the presence of Mrs. Widad Al-Mousawi, member of the Board of Commissioners, summarized the efforts exerted by the NIHR in protecting and raising awareness of expatriate workers and overcoming the obstacles and difficulties they may encounter with regard to accommodation and employment in the Kingdom of Bahrain. This is part of the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals for the stability of the labor market, which will have an effective impact on the protection and promotion of the rights of expatriate workers.

She also confirmed the NIHR’s willingness to receive the relevant complaints through its office in Sihla or via the hotline, noting at the same time the permanent cooperation of the Labor Market Regulatory Authority in preserving the rights of all employment parties.

For her part, Marita Dayas, Chairperson of the Migrant Workers Protection Society (MWPS), expressed her appreciation for the NIHR’s keenness to provide all forms of legal support for expatriate workers through the dedication of an office in this regard, indicating the MWPS’ willingness to engage in further cooperation and coordination with the NIHR for the service of expatriate workers and provision of the best means of living in all respects.
