NIHR receives Ambassador of Japan

Ms. Maria Khouri, Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), received HE Mr. Hideki Ito, Ambassador of Japan to the Kingdom of Bahrain. She welcomed Mr. Hideki Ito and briefed him on the NIHR and its role in spreading and protecting human rights, its efforts in activating joint work to implement the Sustainable Development Goals and their relationship to human rights, in addition to the training and educational programs it offers to promote human rights culture in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

For his part, the Japanese Ambassador expressed his deep thanks to the President and members of the NIHR’s Council of Commissioners for the good reception and appreciated the NIHR’s achievements that contributed to the development of the level of human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and its keenness to deal with the challenges in partnership with all national mechanisms and executive and legislative bodies.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Khalid Abdul-Aziz Al-Shaer, NIHR’s Vice Chairperson, Dr. Malallah Jaffar Al-Hammadi, Member of the NIHR’s Council of Commissioners and Counsellor-at-Law Yasser Ghanim Shaheen, NIHR’s Secretary-General.
