NIHR receives President and Members of Bahrain Autistics Society

Ms. Maria Khoury, Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) received the President of Bahrain Autistics Society and a number of the members of the society and parents. Ms. Khoury welcomed them and expressed her appreciation for the outstanding efforts made by the members of the Society to provide various assistances to the persons with autism, stressing NIHR’s full and continuous support for all the efforts in this area. The meeting was attended by Mr. Abdulla Alderazi, NIHR’s Vice Chairperson.

During the meeting, which is aimed at enhancing cooperation between the two parties, Ms. Khoury stressed that, in light of the national and legal responsibility of the NIHR to serve the society, efforts will be intensified in the coming stage, in an attempt to solve some of the problems that impede the realization of some of the aspirations and hopes of the autistic people with regard to their right to education, health and social care, especially in light of the support and care of the wise leadership for this category, and as guaranteed by the Constitution and the Law, especially Article 24 of Law No. (22) of 2011 on the Ratification of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

For his part, the President of the Bahrain Autistics Society expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to the Chairperson of the NIHR for the warm hospitality, and for the NIHR’s permanent support, considering that the NIHR is their home that supports them in all areas related to economic, social and cultural rights, stressing the importance of concerned and intensified efforts for the care for and rehabilitation of this group in order to integrate them into the society to contribute to the service of the homeland.
