NIHR receives IOM Chief of Mission

Ms. Maria Khouri, Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), received at the NIHR’s headquarters in the Seef District Mr. Mohamed Zarkani, Chief of Mission of the International Organization for Migration (IOM).  During the meeting, the two sides reviewed ways of joint cooperation and ways to promote and protect human rights and to develop them to a level that corresponds to international conventions and instruments, noting the NIHR’s role through its branch in the Migrant Worker Service and Support Center of the National Committee to combat Trafficking in Persons as well as the importance of informing Bahrain’s residents of their rights through the role entrusted to the NIHR as per its Incorporation Law.

For his part, Mr. Mohamed Zarkani expressed his appreciation for the NIHR’s great efforts for the promotion and protection of human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain, wishing to enhance cooperation and coordination to achieve all the desired goals and aspirations.

 

The meeting was attended by Mr. Khalid Abdul-Aziz Al-Shaer, NIHR’s Vice Chairperson, and Counselor-at-law Yasser Ghanim Shahin, NIHR’s Secretary-General.
