NIHR Participates in the 4th Dialogue Forum Entitled (the King, the Leader and the Human)

The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), represented by Dr. Malallah Al-Hammadi, Member of the Council of Commissioners and Head of the NIHR Committee on Visiting Places of Detention and Facilities, has participated in the 4th Dialogue Forum entitled (the King, the Leader and the Human), organized by Al-Nefaie Council, with the participation of a number of officials, dignitaries and specialists in a number of different fields.  The participants discussed the development taking place in the Kingdom of Bahrain in various fields and at all levels, in light of the comprehensive development process of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the country.


Dr. Al-Hammadi, hosted as a keynote speaker, explained that His Majesty’s directive on universality and comprehensiveness of healthcare for all citizens and residents reflects the patriarchal spirit of His Majesty and the position of the Kingdom of Bahrain as a country of equality and human rights without discrimination.

With regard to the Alternative Sanctions Law and the Restorative Justice Law, Dr. Al-Hammadi said that the two new laws consolidate human rights concepts, as Bahrain’s position is this respect is highlighted, as Bahrain represents itself as an advanced model in its human legislation at a time when the world is interested in raising this issue.

Dr. Al Hammadi concluded his speech by clarifying that these laws are very advanced, and include alternative provisions and measures that enhance human rights based on a different humanitarian legal philosophy, indicating that there have been more than 3000 beneficiaries of Alternative Sanctions Law so far.

He also touched on the feasibility of raising the child's age to 18 years, and establishing a special prosecution and justice courts for children, praising the existence of advanced legal guarantees for children that are in line with international conventions.
