Council of Commissioners Adopts Membership of NIHR’s Permanent Specific Committees

The Chairperson of the Council of Commissioners of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) adopted the membership of the NIHR’s permanent committees, based upon the amendments made to the bylaws regarding the organization and action of the Council of Commissioners issued by the Council of Commissioners’ Resolution No. (1) of 2019.  These committees held a procedural meeting to elect their president.  The results were as follows:  Ms. Maria Khoury for the Committee on Complaints, Monitoring and Follow-up, Dr. Bader Mohamed Adel for the Committee on Public Rights and Freedoms and Dr. Hameed Ahmed Husain for the Committee on the Rights of Person with Restricted Freedom.

The office of the Council of Commissioners met with the chairpersons of the committees, where Ms. Khoury welcomed them and wished them success in their new duties.

The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) works to promote and protect human rights, consolidate their values and disseminate awareness of them, and contributes to guaranteeing their free and independent exercise, pursuant to its Incorporation Law No. (26) of 2014, as amended by the Decree-Law No. (20) of 2016, in accordance with the Paris Principles adopted by the UN General Assembly by virtue of the Resolution No. (48/134) of 1993 as its legal reference.
