NIHR Receives a Delegation of Members European Parliament and Senior Staff

Eng. Ali Ahmed Al-Derazi, Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), has received at the NIHR’s headquarters in Seef District a delegation of members and senior staff of the European Parliament visiting the Kingdom of Bahrain. The meeting was attended by MP Mohamed Ibrahim Al-Sisi, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security Committee of the Council of Representatives and a number of members of the Council of Commissioners,

During the meeting, Al-Derazi welcomed the visiting delegation, praising the depth of the relations linking the Kingdom of Bahrain with the European Union, and the development and growth they are witnessing in various fields, explaining the NIHR’s role in dealing with the human rights situation in the Kingdom of Bahrain in accordance with the broad powers of the NIHR’s work in order to strengthen and develop the human rights system in the country in accordance with international standards and to establish principles of respect for human rights and preservation of human dignity.

For their part, the European Parliament delegation stated the importance of the NIHR’s role in promoting and protecting human rights, and the importance of strengthening relations between the European Union and the Kingdom of Bahrain at all levels, including human rights, for the good of friendly countries and peoples.
