NIHR Adopts the Code of Conduct

The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) adopted the Code of Conduct and Work Ethics for Staff of the NIHR General Secretariat, which ensures the organization and proper functioning of employees with the aim to provide public services that are consistent with NIHR’s terms of reference.

Dr. Khalifa bin Ali Al-Fadel, NIHR’s Acting Secretary-General, stressed that the NIHR’s Code of Conduct has come after extensive study in order to provide services to citizens and residents that comply with the NIHR’s goals, within the criteria of accuracy, objectivity, integrity and impartiality, without discrimination as to race, origin, language, religion, creed, belief or political affiliation.

Dr. Al-Fadel added that the NIHR’s Code of Conduct seeks to establish and promote adherence to behavioral and ethical standards as well as professional values and norms that are consistent with the nature of work of the NIHR, promote the principle of equal opportunities and values of integrity and credibility, create a positive and motivating internal work environment that is based upon respect and professionalism, keep pace with harmony with the national public trend that is based upon following the best practices of integrity and transparency, and enhance the confidence of the public, bodies and institutions of the civil society in the NIHR’s work.

It is worth mentioning that the NIHR’s Code of Conduct is based upon six basic principles that constitute the minimum core of ethical duties, which are respect of laws, impartiality, integrity, diligence, confidentiality and effectiveness.
