NIHR participates in the Annual Meeting of Asia-Pacific Forum in Geneva

The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), represented by Mr. Abdulla Alderazi, NIHR’s Vice Chairperson, participated in the annual meeting of the Global Alliance for National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI), held on 4 - 6 March 2019 on the sidelines of the 40th session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva.

The NIHR’s Vice Chairperson also participated in the annual meeting of the Asia-Pacific Forum (APF) of national institutions that are members to this regional network, to which the NIHR is a member.  The President of the APF welcomed the member national institutions.  The NIHR’s Secretariat General them presented to the APF the financial and administrative report and a presentation on the plan and operational strategy for the next two years, and issues related to human rights in the Asia-Pacific region were also discussed.

At the end of the meeting, the Working Group on Persons with Disabilities was elected, with the New Zealand National Institution and the Philippine National Institution winning APF representation in the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI) in that field.
