NIHR receives Deputy British Ambassador

The Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), Ms. Maria Khoury, received at the NIHR’s headquarters in the Seef District Mr. Maqbool Ali, Deputy British Ambassador, Mr. Chris Thompson, Head of Programs Department at the British Embassy, and Ms. Helen Flocker, Head of the Gulf Team at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in the UK. Present was Dr. Khalifa bin Ali Al Fadhel, NIHR’s Secretary General.

At the beginning of the meeting, Ms. Khoury welcomed the Deputy Ambassador, praising the deep relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Kingdom, and the development witnessed in various fields.  During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the major achievements and challenges in the area of human rights at the local level and the role of the NIHR in dealing with related issues, contributing to the Kingdom of Bahrain being a pioneering model in human rights practice.

For his part, the Deputy British Ambassador expressed his appreciation for the humanitarian work performed by the NIHR, stressing the readiness of the British Embassy to provide all the support to serve the aspirations of the NIHR to achieve its objectives and competencies in a professional manner.
