NIHR organizes an Awareness Lecture entitled “the Rights of the Child” for Students of Sheikha Hessa Girls School
The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), in cooperation with Sheikha Hessa Girls School, organized an awareness lecture entitled “the Rights of the Child” for primary stage students, aiming to promote their culture on the rights of children mentioned in the Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), being the first international legal instrument to define civil, political, cultural, social and economic rights of the children.
Mrs. Fatima Al-Tareef and Mrs. Maryam Sayadi from the NIHR Training and Education Unit presented a simplified brief on the basic principles of the UNCRC, which dealt with the right of the child to life and development, respect for opinion and non-discrimination, in addition to concerted efforts for his/her best interest.
This event comes within the NIHR’s program to promote and disseminate the culture of human rights in general and the rights of the child in particular, which will contribute significantly to the refinement of the child’s personality.
