Activating the Mechanisms of Mutual Cooperation between NIHR and the Supreme Judicial Council

The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR)’s Acting Secretary-General Mr. Yasser Ghanem Shaheen received at the NIHR’s headquarters in Seef District the Supreme Judicial Council’s Assistant Secretary General Mr. Khalifa Al-Wardi, accompanied by the Director of Judges Affairs Mr. Fahad Zaid and Legal Researcher at the Supreme Judicial Council Mrs. Zainab Zowaid, 
At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Yasser Shaheen welcomed the guests and underscored the partnership relationship between the NIHR and the Supreme Judicial Council, expressing the constant aspiration to foster and deepen such partnership between them.  He further praised the Council’s efforts to upgrade the judicial system, proceeding from the great attention paid by the Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council Mr. Salem Bin Mohamed Al-Kawari to the independence of judiciary authority.
On his side, Mr. Khalifa Al-Wardi praised the pioneer national role adopted by the NIHR in the human rights field, through the concerted efforts for treatment of human rights issues for all society members, as well as the NIHR’s concern with the human issues.  At the same time, he emphasized that the NIHR’s support to the Future Judges Project will contribute to supplying the judiciary body with qualified and distinctive competencies.


Both parties dealt with the mechanisms of mutual cooperation between them in order to share information and arrange for training courses and workshops for judges and judges of the future on the job, pursuant to a long-term strategy between the Council and the NIHR.
At the end of the meeting, the attendees were briefed on one of the lectures of the Legal Clinic students at the NIHR’s Training Center.  Meeting was further attended by NIHR’s Director of Information Technology and Communication Mr. Fahad Al-Mu’alla and NIHR’s Director of Training and Education Mr. Ali Al-Bahar.
