Council of Commissioners holds its first meeting

The NIHR’s Council of Commissioners held its l first regular meeting on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at the NIHR headquarters at the Seef District under the chairmanship of HE Dr. Abdul-Aziz Hassan Abul. During the meeting, the Council approved the signing of a number of memoranda of understanding with a number of national bodies, and national and regional institutions. The Council also approved to organize a workshop for the public during the next few days to familiarize them with the role, jurisdiction and work strategy of the NIHR, in accordance with international standards. The workshop will be given by Dr. Ahmad Abdullah Farhan, NIHR Secretary General.
The Council of Commissioners also adopted provisional terms of reference for the three Standing committees: Complaints, monitoring and follow-up, Civil and Political Rights and Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, in addition to the work mechanisms and methods. The Council also set up an ad hoc committee to discuss the draft bylaws of the NIHR based on the Royal Order No. (46) for 2009, as amended by the Royal Order No. (28) for 2012, on the establishment of the NIHR. It was decided to hold the second regular meeting of the Council of Commissioners on Tuesday, March 26, 2013.
