Meeting

The Board of Directors of the National Institution for Human Rights held its First Meeting under the Chairmanship of His Excellency, Dr. Abdulaziz Hassan Abul on May 11 at its headquarters in Seef District. The Terms of Reference and Regulations on the working of the NIHR, were discussed during the meeting.

The Board of Directors hailed His Majesty the King’s humanitarian gesture of amnesty for a number of prisoners, discussed the issue of the organisation’s budget and the importance of promoting its activities.

The Board was also briefed on the activities of the NIHR Secretariat in the first quarter of 2015 and discussed the selection of its Secretary-General so that it could achieve more transparency and ensure greater participation in human rights activities.

The Board agreed to discuss pending issues at its next meeting, to be held on May 19.
