Meeting

The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR)’s Council of Commissioners has convened its 2^nd meeting remotely under the chairpersonship of Eng. Ali Ahmed Al-Derazi, Chairman of the NIHR, in the presence of Mr. Khaled Al-Sha’er, NIHR Vice-Chairperson, Head of the NIHR Committee on Complaints, Monitoring and Follow-up, Dr. Fawzeya Al-Saleh, Head of the NIHR Committee on Public Rights and Freedoms, and Chancellor Yasser Shaheen, NIHR Secretary-General.

The Council reviewed NIHR Annual Report 2020, which is expected to be completed by the end of next August.  The Council also discussed the proposals for the methodology of the 9^th NIHR Annual Report 2021, focusing on the mechanism of the NIHR’s handling of a number of complaints received, legal aids provided and cases monitored, which are based on the global impact of Covid-19 and its influence on human rights, how the concerned authorities in Bahrain dealt with it and the alternative and appropriate solutions for it.
