NIHR Council of Commissioners Convenes its 3rd Meeting

Eng. Ali Ahmed Al-Derazi, Chairman of the National institution for Human Rights (NIHR), chaired the 3rd meeting of the NIHR Council of Commissioners. Present were Mr. Khaled Al-Sha’er, NIHR Vice-Chairperson and Head of the NIHR Committee on Complaints, Monitoring and Follow-up, Dr. Fawzeya Al-Saleh, Head of the NIHR Committee on Public Rights and Freedoms, Dr. Malallah Al-Hammadi, Head of the NIHR Committee on Visiting Detention Places and Facilities, and Chancellor Yasser Shaheen, NIHR Secretary-General.
During the meeting, the participants adopted a methodology for writing the NIHR 7th annual report 2021, which will include an overview of the NIHR competencies, functions and efforts in the area of promoting and protecting human rights, highlighting Article (21) of the NIHR Establishment Law, which stipulates that the Council of Commissioners shall draw up “an annual report that contains a section stating the level of progress made in the human rights situation in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and its suggestions and recommendations within the scope of its competencies, and identifies performance obstacles and the solutions adopted to avoid them."
The members of the Council also followed up on a number of previous topics and the actions taken thereupon.
