The twenty third regular meeting of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) Council of Commissioners Bureau, chaired by Eng. Ali Ahmed Alderazi, included the participation of the Vice Chairperson and the heads of the NIHR standing committees, with the Child Rights Commissioner, and the Secretary General in attendance.
The Bureau members reviewed the progress made in preparing for the inaugural annual gathering for the children of Bahrain titled "You Have the Right.. You Have a Voice," scheduled for next month. This event commemorates the 35th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the 15th anniversary of the institution's founding. It will also feature the launch of the strategy and action plan by the Child Rights Commissioner, with contributions from various official and civil entities. The goal is to foster a leadership spirit in human rights among children and engage them in decision-making.
During the meeting, the members adopted a series of new mechanisms for preparing periodic and annual reports and for enhancing the frameworks of the permanent specialty committees of the institution. These initiatives are intended to bolster the institution’s capacity to fulfill its roles and achieve its objectives.
At the meeting's conclusion, the Bureau members discussed several proposals aimed at developing the institution's media identity and refining the complaint reception mechanism to align with cutting-edge technology. These improvements are expected to enhance the institution’s stature and increase public engagement with its diverse activities and programs.
