Meeting

Eng. Ali Ahmed Al-Derazi, Chairman of the National institution for Human Rights (NIHR), chaired the 9^th meeting of the NIHR Commissioners Bureau at the NIHR’s headquarters in the Seef District. Present were Mr. Khaled Al-Sha’er, Vice-Chairman of the NIHR and Head of the NIHR Committee on Complaints, Monitoring and Follow-up, D. Fawzeya Al-Saleh, Head of the NIHR Committee on Public Rights and Freedoms, D. Malallah Al-Hammadi, Head of the NIHR Committee on Visiting Detention Places and Facilities, and Chancellor Yasser Shaheen, NIHR Secretary-General.

Al-Derazi presented a brief about the introductory meeting held by the Joint Working Group with the participation of private sector, and explained the mechanism for implementing alternative sanctions, which is chaired by the NIHR as the owner of the basic idea, which aims to provide support to inmates who undergo alternative sanctions and integrate them into society after finishing the sentence period, by training them and finding jobs suitable for their qualifications in order to be active members in the society.
