NIHR’s Committee on Public Rights and Freedoms Convenes its 43rd Regular Meeting

The General Rights and Freedoms Committee held its forty-third meeting, chaired by Dr. Fawzia Saeed Al Saleh, and attended by Dr. Bader Mohammed Adel and Mr. Daniel Haroun, Council of Commissioners.
The committee commenced its session by examining the outcomes of the NIHR's participation in the regional discussion forum held in Cairo. It then deliberated on the draft opinions of the institution regarding the advisory views received from the Parliament concerning the addition of new articles to the traffic law.
The committee proceeded to discuss several laws, executive regulations, and decisions related to national legislation that pertain to the rights of sentenced and detained individuals, assessing their alignment with international standards and treaties that aim to protect human rights.
Additionally, in the context of cooperative efforts with various entities, the committee suggested developing educational programs about the institution's role in protecting and promoting human rights for members of the legislative authority and law enforcement officials.
In concluding its meeting, the committee took note of the outcomes from the meetings, sessions, and events its members participated in, both within and outside of Bahrain.
